U-20 National Team Players Announced for LHF President's Cup

From August 13 to 16, the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) President's Cup will be held for the third time at the Inbox.lv Ice Hall. This year, in addition to two Latvian U-20 national teams - "Bordo" and "Baltā" - the Finnish Mestis League club "TUTO", the French U-20 national team, as well as two Optibet Hockey League (OHL) teams - HK "MOGO/RSU" and HK "Zemgale/LBTU" will also participate in the LHF President's Cup.

The head coach of the Latvian U-20 national hockey team, Artis Ābols, has named the squad for the LHF President's Cup. A total of 51 players will be entered for the tournament - six goalkeepers, 16 defensemen and 29 forwards.

The Latvian U-20 national team players will be divided into two teams during the tournament - “Bordeaux” and “Baltā”. This format will allow the coaching staff to evaluate a wide range of candidates for the national team.

During the tournament, the U-20 coaching staff will be able to reshuffle the squad, if necessary, changing players between the two teams. Therefore, the distribution of players in the teams may be changed during the tournament.

Entrance to all LHF President's Cup matches at the Inbox.lv ice rink will be free of charge.

Six teams will be divided into two subgroups in the tournament. First, the teams will play in the group tournament, and then the battles for places will follow. All matches will be held at the "Inbox.lv" ice rink.

Last year, the Latvian U-20 "white" team triumphed in the tournament, and in 2024 - the Finnish club "TUTO".

The LHF President's Cup is an annual pre-season tournament, the main goal of which is for the Latvian U-20 national team to prepare for the world championship in the elite, while at the same time providing high-level game practice for Latvian clubs and foreign teams.
