Finnish club "TuTo" triumphs in LHF President's Cup
On Sunday, August 16, the President's Cup organized by the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) concluded. In the final match, the Latvian U20 "white" team conceded the superiority of the Finnish "Mestis" league team TUTO with a score of 0:5.
In the middle of the first period, chaos broke out on the field, as a result of which the main referee of the game awarded two minor suspensions to both teams. In a match worthy of the final, no goals were scored in the first period.
At the very beginning of the second period, the result was finally revealed. Emils Valila did this, putting the "Mestis" league club in the lead.
The discipline of the Latvian U20 hockey players faltered in the second period, as a total of three suspensions were earned, while none of the TUTO hockey players went to the penalty bench.
The third period also started with a quick goal scored by the Finnish club. This time Hugo Rikilā was accurate.
The young Latvian hockey players managed to earn two leads in the third period in six minutes, but none of them were used. Instead, the Finnish team scored a goal, with Emil Vālila standing out.
After the lost goal, the Latvians fell behind twice more and both times the TUTO hockey players were accurate. Playing with a one-man advantage, both Valteri Karnaranta and Jona Korhonen stood out.
Ivans Kufterins saved five of 33 opponent shots (84.9%). The Latvian ″white″ team made 21 shots on the opponent’s goal.
The fifth place in the LHF President’s Cup was won by the Latvian U20 “bordeaux” team, which beat “MOGO/RSU” with a score of 0:1. In turn, the third place was won by “Zemgale/LBTU”, which beat the French U20 national team with a score of 4:1.
